China Pro-democracy Group Persecuted as “Falun Gong”

Posted by Author on May 25, 2007

By Lin Huixin, Epoch Times Staff, May 25, 2007-

On the evening of May 16, 2007, Meng Jian, a member of the Pan-Blue Alliance in China’sSun Buer Jilin Province, was taken into custody for questioning by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). The CCP insisted that Meng was a Falun Gong practitioner and that for this crime he would be sent to a labor camp.

Meng managed to escape at 9:00 p.m. that same evening by leaping through a third floor window when his captors werenot paying attention. Other Pan-Blue Alliance members including Zhang Zilin and Cai Aimin, have also been taken into custody and/or placed under close surveillance.

In a May 19 interview with The Epoch Times, Sun Buer, a spokesperson ( photo right) for the Pan-Blue Alliance in China, said that the CCP is now labeling all Pan-Blue members as Falun Gong practitioners. Pan-Blue strongly objects to this change in CCP policy.

“Falun Gong practitioners are persecuted much more severely than Pan-Blue Alliance members,” said Sun. “The CCP’s treatment for Falun Gong practitioner is to count every practitioner beaten to death as suicide, to destroy their reputations, exhaust them financially, and eliminate them physically. The CCP is now labeling all Pan-Blue Alliance members as Falun Gong practitioners. The purpose of reclassifying Pan-Blue members as practitioners of Falun Gong is to allow the CCP to legally mistreat Pan-Blue members in the same manner inwhich they currently mistreat practitioners of Falun Gong. It is a very evil scheme.”

Sun said that Meng contacted him by phone on the May 17, and told Sun that the CCP was planning to Meng him to a labor camp as a Falun Gong practitioner. Meng described his escape, leaping from a third-story window. Meng was still on the run when The Epoch Times interviewed Sun.

Sun said that Meng’s wife is very concerned for Meng’s safety, and she herself is under constant surveillance by CCP agents.

The reporter tried contacting Meng and his wife without success.

Pan-Blue Members Interrogated, ‘Missing’

Sun furthered informed The Epoch Times that Pan-Blue members are being summoned for interrogation all the time. Some have been arrested and some are simply reported as “missing”.

Sun said he believes this new pressure by the CCP against Pan-Blue is occurring because of Pan-Blue’s promotion of basic human rights

“Our struggle to uphold basic human rights is the biggest threat to the CCP right now.”

Sun added that Pan-Blue’s struggle to defend human rights is promoting Taiwan’s movement toward true democracy. That strikes the foundation of the CCP’s political system at its heart and that is why the increased oppression toward the Pan-Blue Alliance grows fiercer each day.

Sun noted that all Pan-Blue members are now labeled by the CCP as practitioners of Falun Gong.

“This is a very evil scheme, because members of the Pan-Blue Alliance are now being persecuted as practitioners of Falun Gong. The Chinese communist regime’s continuing persecution against Falun Gong continues to defy all standards of moral behavior and humanity. Except that there are far more Falun Gong practitioners, and they are being subjected to far more gruesome persecutions than members of the Pan-Blue Alliance, the mistreatment of both groups by the CCP is now similar.”

Pan-Blue Ban Backfires; CCP Re-Labels Pan-Blue as Falun Gong

Sun believes that when the CCP reclassified the Pan-Blue Alliance as an illegal organization, its actions actually stimulated many people to learn more about it. After researching the organization, most people come to the conclusion that the CCP has lied about the Pan-Blue Alliance. Pan-Blue is neither an anti-China organization nor a group of crazed zealots. People see that members are very clear in their thinking and objectives for improving human rights in China.

“The Chinese regime said my parents practice Falun Gong, but in reality they are just members of the Pan-Blue Alliance.”

According to Sun, what happened with Pan-Blue is just like what happened after CCTV broadcast the lies regarding Falun Gong practitioners’ supposed “self-immolation.” After discovering the truth, people quickly realized that Falun Gong champions the principles of “Truth, Compassion, and Forbearance” in everyday life. Falun Gong is not the evil entity portrayed by the CCP.

“The false media reports have actually brought people to a better understanding of Falun Gong and the truth behind it. At the same time, it has also enabled people to better understand the evil and violent nature of the CCP.”

Sun used himself as an example. He said that initially he knew very little about Falun Gong. It was only after the CCP had plastered every form of media with lies about the practice that he became curious and borrowed some Falun Gong books from a friend. After reading the books, he realized Falun Gong was nothing like what had been portrayed by the CCP.

Note: China Pan Blue Coalition is an internet-based alliance established over two years ago in mainland China. Since its foundation, the coalition declares allegiance to the ideology of Sun Yat-sen, the founding father of the KMT, has promoted democracy and freedom in China, and provided a voice for minority groups. Although the Chinese government shut down the coalition’s website many times, the alliance has grown bigger, and gained attention and support from people both in China and abroad.

Chinese regime’s harassment on independent candidates spreading

Posted by Author on September 28, 2006

During the county-district-township simultaneous elections for delegates to local People’s Congress, which have been underway in China for several months now, Communist Party and government authorities have targeted independent candidates seeking election in many parts of the country. Some candidates have been beaten, detained for questioning, threatened, or pressured by their employees to withdraw. Reported by Chinese Human Rights Defenders (CHRD) in Beijing on September 27.

In it’s press release, CHRD said incidents of harassment and intimidation of independent candidates are on the rise.

Instance including, in August, independent candidate Zhou Tao disclosed that, in Luohu District, Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province, all district candidates had already been decided by the government that independent candidates have no chance to participate in the election.

In September, independent candidates in all the districts in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, were detained for questioning in advance of the vote. They were accused of engaging in activities harmful to the election.

“the Nationalist Party” or “Pan-Blue Alliance” (fan lan lian meng), which is running under the Nationalist Party principles, has been specifically targeted. Pan-Blue’s slogan is to uphold the “three peoples principles” (san min zhu yi), to learn from Taiwan’s demoractization, and to promote the one-China unification policy.

On September 25, Cai Aiming, another Pan-Blue Alliance member in Zhengzhou City, Henan Province, was detained by police around 11am, and was not yet been released by 2pm on September 26.

One candidate, Wen Yan (nickname Sun Erwu), who is running as a member of the Pan-Blue Alliance in Wuhan City, was beaten by unidentified men on the evening of September 12.

CHRD indicated that the elections of local delegates to the local People’s Congress are held now in different parts of the county, and are running from July 2006 to the end of 2007. This is the first round of nationwide local elections since the 2004 amendment of the PRC Constitution, the Election Law, and the Local Organization Law, which changed the length of terms for delegates to the county-township People’s Congress from three years to five years.

More than 2,800 counties and 35,400 townships will hold elections during this time, 900 million people are supposed to vote, 2 million delegates are to be directly elected or re-elected to office.

Anyone with more than 10 signatures of endorsement can seek election, according to China’s Election Law.

China Independent Election Candidate Campaign Thwarted

Posted by Author on September 15, 2006

By Gu Qinger and Ai Qing, The Epoch Times, Sep 15, 2006- Sun Buer- Ni Jiangfeng
CHINA – Sun Buer, leader of the China Pan-Blue Coalition, and members Wan Li and Ni Jiangfeng have been monitored and followed by Wuhan police and community security guards as they prepare to run for the lowest level People’s Congress election.

Sun Buer explained that local authorities are trying to use any means to stop ‘grassroots’ candidates running for office. “Election candidates have to endure a lot of pressure, both politically and financially,” he said. Some voters have told journalists that the election committee is buying votes.

Sun Buer used his original name Wen Yan to run for election this time. He has been publicizing his key campaign messages and distributing T-shirts with slogans calling for equality and prosperity. The T-shirts also feature a portrait of Sun Yatsen [the first provisional president when the Republic of China was founded in 1912].

After Sun Buer declared his intention to run for office, he was pressured regularly by the election committee and police. Sun Buer said that the police originally began interfering covertly, but then started confiscating T-shirts openly.

The Chinese Communist Party called a conference and the police began going door-to-door to spread rumors that the Pan-Blue Coalition was sent from overseas. The CCP also began bribing voters—offering 50 yuan (approximately US$6.3) to everyone who votes in favor of the CCP.

“This kind of corruption in running elections is very common here,” Sun Buer explained. “It is a black box operation. The CCP distributes votes to each household and tells them they will get 50 yuan when they vote. The money is distributed according to the number of people present. Some voters were even complaining that the money was less than they were offered last time.”

“CCP always hands down its orders verbally so that it’s hard to catch them” one voter said.

Sun Buer said that voters told him the police photographed him from their patrol cars while he was hanging up his posters. One voter said that when Sun Buer went out to canvass votes, the police followed him. They destroyed Sun Buer’s election flyers and the Wuhan Municipal Government told the police to treat Sun Buer and the other members of the China Pan-Blue Coalition as criminals. The police also wanted to investigate Sun Buer’s source of funding.

Local residents said that the China Pan-Blue Coalition had 6000 flyers, and the police knew the exact number. The police were confiscating the flyers as soon as they were distributed. The local authorities increased the wages for staff employed to stop the China Pan Blue Coalition running for election.

Ni Jiangfeng, the election candidate in the Qingshan area, was also monitored by the local police and followed everywhere. Ni Jiangfeng’s father was summoned to the police station to be ‘reformed’ [a pseudonym for brainwashing or mental torture]. His father is under a lot of pressure.

Sun Buer said, “I resigned from the Communist Youth League and joined the Kuomintang spiritually [the Kuomintang is in Taiwan, so he cannot physically join] and then founded the China Pan-Blue Coalition. We really want to do something for the people. Our flyers ask voters to vote for civilian representatives instead of communist bigwigs. Because I openly and proudly list my non-CCP identity on the flyers, the CCP is very afraid because it has had a big negative impact on the CCP.”

“Media reports about these incidents are still very limited. We feel isolated and our safety is certainly under threat. ”

Sun Buer is calling for international attention and support, and he is determined not to give up. “Evil can never beat justice,” he said. “I will keep walking this path.”

Chinese State Security Agent Beats Minority Party Candidate

Posted by Author on September 15, 2006

By Gu Qing’er and Tang Yu, The Epoch Times, Sep 15, 2006- Sun Buer been beaten

Mr. Sun Buer, a Pan-Blue Camp candidate running for the local-level People’s Congress of Wuhan City was beaten by a local state security agent on the evening of September 12. Mr. Buer was hospitalized with severe bleeding from wounds on his face and head after the attack.

Mr. Sun’s mother wept and said, “On the way home, we were both beaten. There were three or four people, but only one of them beat [my son], and he fainted right there. It took him a while to gain consciousness. I cried out loud to the security agent, ‘You’re beating him to death.’ The security agents then used bricks to hit him. They were very brutal and aimed at his head.”

She said, “I stood in front of my son to protect him, yet the security agents moved me away and then hit his head really hard. I was also hit in the head. I told the security agents I just had a medical operation, but he hit me just the same. I was so scared that I almost passed out. They were so cruel. I haven’t seen it so bad before. I read the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party and had some doubts. Now I feel that the Chinese Communist Party is just like the mafia.

“I decided to fight with the CCP until the end. It is merciless to anyone who touches on the issue of democracy. It dispatched thugs to beat my son. I support my son. He is right. I will always support my son and fight with this evil party until the end,” said she.

The injured Sun Buer said, “I am feeling very dizzy. It was just because of the election. What other conflicts do we have? I was beaten by a state security agent. I’ll send you some pictures. I need to see the doctor now.”

Sun Buer used his real name Sun Wenyan to run for the election. He began campaigning in Jianghan District by introducing his ideas and distributing T-shirts with an image of Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s and some words about seeking equality. He has received wide support in the district. Since he declared he was running, he was frequently pressured and harassed by the election offices and public security bureau.

Sun believes that a team of three security agents were hired to watch him. He said in the beginning, the police was only making small disturbances under the table. Then it escalated to open robbery and beating.
