Shen Yun Artist’s Husband Abducted in Shanghai Airport, Likely by ‘China Gestapo’

Posted by Author on February 22, 2010

The husband of Shen Yun Performing Arts’ erhu virtuoso Mei Xuan has disappeared. The artist contends that he has been kidnapped by the Shanghai 610 Office authorities in a continued effort by the Chinese regime to interfere with Shen Yun’s successful world tour.

The 610 Office, like the Gestapo, is a Chinese extra-constitutional body with unquestioned power, which was created for the sole purpose of identifying, isolating, illegally detaining, and torturing practitioners of Falun Gong.

On the afternoon of Feb. 18, Mei Xuan’s husband, Jiang Feng, was scheduled to fly to the United States to visit family. Relatives accompanying him to the Shanghai Pudong Airport said he passed the security checkpoint on time. His name was also on the boarding list for Continental Airlines flight C086. However, he never arrived in Newark, N.J., and airport inquiries indicate that he never boarded the plane.

Two passengers on the flight told Mei Xuan that they saw the entire boarding process. It was very quiet, they said. The flight crew did not broadcast any message reminding missing passengers to board the plane.

Mei Xuan’s husband apparently disappeared during the very short time between passing through the security checkpoint and final boarding.

610 Office Involvement

When an Epoch Times reporter called the Shanghai Pudong Airport, two airport employees said they were unaware of the incident. They also said that Jiang Feng was likely taken away by the 610 Office and the National Security police, stating that, “When the 610 Office or National Security police takes someone away, we do not know, and they do not need to go through us.”

The 610 Office was established in 1999 with the sole purpose of carrying out the persecution of Falun Gong, a spiritual practice whose adherents have been persecuted for 10 years in China, and both Mei Xuan and Jiang Feng are Falun Gong practitioners. The 610 Office exists outside of the established framework of the Chinese government. It has no legal basis and has full control over any issue that has to do with Falun Gong.

The Epoch Times also called the 610 Office in Shanghai. A staff member with the last name Yin denied any knowledge of Jiang Feng being kidnapped and refused to give his own identity……. (more details from The Epochtimes)
