Reporters Without Borders said in it’s 2005 special report titled “Xinhua: the world’s biggest propaganda agency”, that “Xinhua remains the voice of the sole party”, “particularly during the SARS epidemic, Xinhua has for last few months been putting out news reports embarrassing to the government, but they are designed to fool the international community, since they are not published in Chinese.”

China Installs Nearly 3 Million Surveillance Cameras in Cities

Chinese authorities say that the Ministry of Public Security has installed more than 2.7 million surveillance cameras in major cities to monitor the public and will expand surveillance into rural areas. Some democracy advocates are concerned that this will make the already deteriorating privacy situation in China even worse.

An increasing number of cameras can be been in  public places throughout China’s major cities. According to an Associated Press report, the daily video input from these cameras is saved in computers and used in conjunction with facial recognition software to identify wanted or “politically sensitive persons” by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

Mr. Wang, a computer technician in Zhejiang Province, said, “The surveillance cameras have not only been installed on  main roads, but also on side streets and in some large buildings in cities. They look like television monitors but in actuality they are [surveillance cameras which have] hard disks installed inside. Someone takes the hard disks and analyzes the recorded videos every day.”

Mr. Wang also stated that the Chinese police have installed a lot of hidden cameras, making people feel that they are being monitored by the authorities at all times. “There is a hidden camera, which can actually rotate, installed at the upper left corner of the glass on the back wall of the store which I work in. It looks like a small light bulb and is difficult to notice as it’s behind glass. I didn’t even spot it until a friend told me about it. This is a serious violation of citizens’ privacy rights. The authorities cannot guarantee that any of these videos can be kept confidential or destroyed [after being viewed daily],” said Mr. Wang……. (more details)

I am terribly dissappointed that there are no comments to the original story or to my two posts. Does anyone care? Dr.Cohen, I invite you to comment. Dr. Feinerman, I invite you to respond. Dr. Fu, I invite you to respond. I invite you to get involved in an appropriately controlled “roundtable” discussion here on the net? I am ready to get involved on a regular basis with such, are you? We need you. I’ll do most of the work very gladly if you will just give us the benefit of your knowledge, thoughts, ideas, suggestions and requests. An idea is a powerful thing and we ned your idead and the ideas of others whom you might select. If interested, respond to normallawUSA@aol.com and hopefully we can get started. If you do not readily know who I am please cotact Dr. Fu who I believe will tell you who I am,

For decades China has thought seriously that one day it would rule the world. Is there any reason to think today that idea has changed? No. It devalues its yaun to take advantage of every economic market on the globe. It builds its military and proliferates the manufacture of its nuclear submarines while the rest of the world discusses reducing nuclear capability. Despite arguments to the contrary by those who have the highest of hopes and well wishes, the CCP (chicom)is China in every relevant respect.
Now and then we read that China in not the CCP and we need to focus on the cultural, geographic and other characteristics of the nation called China rather than the CCP. While those statements are undoubtedly well intended, they simply are not accurate because they pose only what the Chicom want us to see and believe. China is the CCP with all its evil and all its cruelty. The evil that has murdered over 100,000 million of its own people and continues to murder, rape, kidnap and imprison innocent humans has not even slowed down as was earlier thought. In fact, it is escalating at such a rate today that there is no end in sight.
Why is this? While there are a lot of ways to say things, we need only look to one observation by one westerner a year or so ago. Looking for a good “knockoff” an American was led to an “artisan” to replicate a very expensive Rolex watch. Presented to the artisan, it was nothing new and took only moments for the man to examine, make several notes, a diagram, and return it to the American with assurances that he could view his “product” in two days. The notes and diagram were laid aside and the “artisan” resumed the work that he was about when the men first arrived and he told them that he was sorry that it would take so long. but the work “already in house” took priority so he could not start on their project until that work was completed.
When the American returned and examined his “product” he was very satisfied and placed a large order for a very cheap price. He had fallen for the “big lie” that Dr.Richard Walker many years before had warned against. That is the core of the chicom–“the big lie.” They have for decades believed and still do that it is the way to conquer the world. The watch is but an example, a metaphor (true as it is), that demonstrates the true intention of the CCP.
Dr. Jerome Cohen, one of the world’s foremost experts on China believes that one day a “savior” will arise in China and lead it to the right path. Dr. Cohen’s opinions are not to be taken lightly, but I am afraid that we may run out of time based on recent events in China. Christians and Falun Gong are experiencing accelerated persecution. China has accelerated its manufacture of nuclear submarines and verbally espoused turning away from countries that don’t follow its views “in favor of those who do for economic reasons.”
Having spent time in China, I know how easy it is to buy into the entire notion that China only wants “harmony.” But, I know better, China wants a world of harmony ruled by China and that is absolutely not acceptable for it is still an evil, corrupt, criminal and dispicable self-proclaimed dictatorship operating in a form that is only slightly different from that used by Mao himself.
The hour is late and the stakes are high. I will have more to say in coming days. In the meatime, please pray for Gao Zhisheng and all others who are being tortured and persecuted in China.
    God Bless

The tyrant becomes more tyrannical and controlling. The majority of International observers interested in China a decade ago thought that country was headed for something at least similar to a western style democratic republic. There were many signs to make them believe that. However, as I have said many times you can trust the communists to be communists and no further.
The gangsters and hooligans that control the communist party like being gangsters and hooligans. They will likely install cameras in the most private of places in the weeks to come. Frankly, I do not see any power base or political figure who can stem the tide of the late outrageous conduct of these criminals other than the military.
There are some active and retired military generals with great influence who could make a difference and better their country but they offer not even a whimper since immediately after the plenary session of October 2007 when just briefly some of them offered to help form a transitional government.
Total control has again become the official party line. Therefore, while much of the world continues to develop, China continues to slide backwards toward the first days of its 5000 year history.
Lawyers who have simply tried to do their jobs as mandated under the 1982 constitution and other laws are being persecuted in a fashion unprecedented since the cultural revolution. House churches are high on the target list, violating the religious freedoms supposedly guaranteed by that same constitution. Their leaders are being arrested and their churches destroyed.
The evil government continues its evil ways while the complacent remain quiet.
Where are the voices of the religious leaders, churches and the legal community in the United States?
