Three Australian Falun Gong members deported by Hong Kong

Posted by Author on June 30, 2007

Melbourne Herald Sun, Australia, June 30, 2007-

THREE Australians, Falun Gong practitioners, have been deported from Hong Kong ahead of the Chinese president’s visit there to mark the 10th anniversary of Hong Kong’s handover to China, their supporters say.

Stacey Miao Chen Lin Lan, Fan Chiang Fu Long, and Huang Yueh Hsiu were detained by Chinese authorities on June 29, two days before the anniversary, said the Falun Gong’s Falun Dafa Information Centre.

At this stage Mr Fan and Ms Huang have been deported, and Ms Lans’ whereabouts cannot be confirmed, the statement said.

The Falun Gong was banned in mainland China eight years ago.

The group says at least 500 Falun Gong detainees have been deported from Hong Kong in the past few days.

“(It) appears to be the latest drive by the Special Administrative Region (SAR) to block Falun Gong practitioners from entering the country ahead of Chinese President Hu Jintao’s visit to mark the 10th anniversary of Hong Kong’s handover to China,” the centre said.

Falun Gong practitioners will protest against the deportations in Sydney’s Chinatown at 12.30pm tomorrow.
