Why don’t you people go to China and protest about your FACTS? Most of your facts have no hard data, just some random crap.

Kevin Ho, I have been to China and corroborated the reported facts. In the final days leading up to the Olympics we saw the worst atrocities we have seen in China since the cultural revolution. That that is fact-not crap.

Chinese citizens today faces enormous pressure. Nobody likes to say bad things about their own country…unfortunately the local authoritative corruptions that happens every now and then puts a huge blemish on the national image. The government tends to turn a blind eye towards internal issues, and the citizens are the ones who ends up carrying the burden.

The truth is, the people are so in need of national pride that some willingly turn their heads away from the truth. Many people will refuse to discuss the problems that is happening right now in China but everyone knows in their heart that things should not go on like this. Especially when speaking with someone not from China, Chinese people are very discreet about their honest opinions towards social issues.

Americans are willing to admit the atrocities committed by Bush with a sense of shame, but Americans are not in need of national pride. In China the sentiment is very different. Because of the numerous defeats before and after WWII, China was literally on its knees. Industrialization and mass mobilization took place, as well as large amounts of government spending on weaponry; we see a different China in the 21st century. However, many problems still persist, but one has to understand the dramatic changes that took place in China just within the last 50 years alone.

To make a long story short, if you are interested in visiting China, you should definitely go and see things for yourself. Just keep in mind that you are in a different country with a very different culture, and it won’t hurt to know a bit about the country’s history. I think a person needs to keep a very open mind no matter where the they go, and understand that things are a lot more complicated than they seem, especially for a country with more than 8′000 years of culture.

Just know that people are sincere if you are sincere and understanding. If you are judgmental or strongly opinionated it would be wise to keep those things to yourself unless you understand the matter thoroughly.
